Tips for Making an Excellent Chicken and Shrimp Pasta

Shrimp lovers tend to love pasta, so it stands to reason that they’re equally in love with shrimp and pasta dishes. With shrimp being one of the most popular seafoods in the world, mixing it with pasta is just a natural and healthy way to get the best of both worlds. If you’ve never prepared it for yourself before, here are some tips on making what will surely be one of your favorite chicken and shrimp pasta dishes.

Choosing the Shrimp and Chicken

For the best meal, you’re going to want to get the best shrimp. One of the great things about shrimp is that it freezes very well. In fact, most shrimp that you buy at the grocery store has already been frozen and then thawed, so there’s no reason not frozen shrimp. Make sure the shrimp you choose is peeled and de veined for added convenience. As for chicken, many people like chicken breasts, but dark meat is usually more tender, so boneless, skinless chicken thighs may be your preferred choice.

How to Make Chicken and Shrimp Pasta

1.   Boil a pot of water with 1 tablespoon of salt, then add the pasta. Cook until al-dente, then drain, and set aside.

2.   As the pasta is cooking, add chicken, shrimp, olive oil, and cajun seasoning to a skillet over medium heat. Cook for approximately 10 minutes while stirring occasionally.

3.   When the shrimp is a light pink — and is no longer translucent — that probably means both the chicken and shrimp are ready, and can be removed from the skillet.

4.   Add bell peppers and onions to the now empty skillet, cook for 5 minutes, then remove from the skillet.

5.   Add white wine and chicken broth to the skillet, and let it boil down until only 25% of the combination remains.

6.   Stir in Parmesan cheese, garlic, and half & half until everything in the skillet is nice and creamy. Allow it to simmer, but don’t let it come to boiling.

7.   Take the vegetables you cooked earlier, and stir in with the shrimp and chicken, and drained pasta. You’ll want to make sure the noodles are well covered in sauce.

8.   Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired, and serve!

You’ll find that this recipe for chicken and shrimp pasta is easy and only takes 40 minutes to make. Also, considering how delicious it is, you’ll be happy to know it’s really healthy for you as well.
